A hard to find African gold dust box from the Ashanti (Asanti) goldfields. An oval lidded box made of hand beaten brass by local gold and silversmiths and used for storing the favored currency prior to 1936 of gold dust. The lid fits tightly although the seam adjoining the collar has come away from the lid. Please view images as all images are of the actual item.
